If you think Florida is hot, try living in Texas.
After24/7 Wall St., a financial news and opinion website, ranked 17 cities in the Lone Star State among the 50 Most Popular Cities in America, published on June 20, the day before the summer solstice. It's so hot in Texas that seven cities made the top 10.
Not to be outdone, seven cities in the Sunshine State pushed mercury past 90 degrees more than 75 days a year. The highest ranked city in Florida is Fort Myers, which ranks at number 21.

Although Texas occupies more spots on the list than any other state, two states in the Southwest, Arizona and Nevada, are among the top three most popular cities. These cities are: Phoenix (1); Tuscon (2) and Las Vegas (3).
According to 24/7 Wall Street, Phoenix has 169 days a year with temperatures exceeding 90 degrees. Tucson has 146 days a year with temperatures above 90 degrees and Las Vegas has 135 days a year with temperatures above 90 degrees.
Five cities in California and four in Louisiana are also on the list.

Much of the United States is in the midst of a heat wave that could bring record temperatures to several cities in the Northeast and Midwest, according to 24/7 Wall Street. Chicago hit 103 degrees on Sunday, Father's Day, the hottest in the city since 1995.
A handful of other Midwestern cities broke heat records on Sunday, and New York City, Boston and Washington, D.C. are on track to do the same this week.
